It seems like there was a lot of artists feeling festive over the Christmas Holidays. We asked you to send in your face painting designs and you delivered a feast of festive cheer.
We did take more time than ususal getting our winners, we were going back and forth, giving each entry the time their design deserves. This was a very hard competition to judge, probably one of our hardest, but we are delighted to announce our winners.
Winners
First Place - Belinda Wurmitzer
Wow wow wow! It is hard to start with what we love about this design as it ticks so many boxes. Firstly, its such a clever concept, to have an articulated head on springs and make it appear disconnected from the face of the model; Belinda has painted this with great skill and technique and has pulled off this design beautifully. Take a look at the light and shadow on the face, it brings the design to life, plus how she has created hair to represent the beard which extends past the end of the face towards the springs - very clever. A massive congratulations Belinda, a truly remarkable design.
Second Place - Prima Barton
When a face painting design comes into our competitions that immediately catches our eye, it does it for all the right reasons, Prima Barton's design caught our attention straight away. Firstly, the blended blue and silver background sets the scene where a beautiful and cute snowman takes centre stage. Surrounded by flurries of snowflakes and delicate brushstrokes and dots, Prima has painted a design that many artists would love to paint. Congratulations Prima, we love your design.
Third Place - Riina Driscoll
Thinking outside the box with Red squirrels and spruce needles, Riina has painted a whole winter wonderland scene with outstanding results. The attention to detail, especially on the squirrels is exquisite, especially the squirrel painted on the neck, take a look at how his feet are sinking into the snow. A very clever and beautifully painted design; a massive congratulations Riina on your beautiful design.
