Welcome to the February Face Painting Competition - This month's competition is now closed!
For February's challenge, we asked you to paint your face painting design to be food themed. You used your imagination and we received so many mouth-watering designs, from sweet treats, candies, pizza and spaghetti and meatball.
This time, instead of inviting a guest judge, we decided to judge this competition ourselves. We each looked at the designs one-by-one, looking at whether the design was within the food theme, studied the technique and application and also the overall appearance. After getting the numbers down from 49, we had a shortlist of 10. After careful deliberation we found our top three winners and four that we had to have as special mentions.
FIRST PLACE WINNER - TANIA LINDNER
There is so much to love about this design, Tania has painted a clever concept of the honey and bee. The honeycomb is very well shaded it looks like it is going into the forehead. The bee has been painted and given a great personality by its open mouth and eye painted over the models own eye. A stunning design, congratulations Tania on this well-deserved first place.
SECOND PLACE WINNER - LORNA NICKELS
This is such an interesting design of spaghetti and meatballs, mouthwatering in fact! Lorna has transformed her models face with the design, so much so that it is hard to see the nose and mouth. Congratulations Lorna on this unique and clever design.
THIRD PLACE WINNER - RIINA DRISCOLL
Riina's painting of the baked bean can is so convincing, she has made the curve of the tin work well with the contours of the models face. With its beans exploding from the tin and its use of shadows, this is a great life-like food design. Congratulations Riina on your third place win!
