For the October Illusion competition, we invited you to paint your Halloween designs as scary as possible.
We were not disappointed by you. We have been sent horror, trauma and glam scare designs, all that can make people jump when they see your designs. Judging this competition was hard and it did take us longer that usual to come up with our winners and special mentions; this was because there was so much diversity and we felt we wanted to study each design on their own merit, and not just because of the scare factor. So with that said, we now have our 3 winners and 4 special mentions, congratulations to you all and also to every other artist that has competited in this competition.
Winners
First Place - Anna Czajak
The concept of this design is well-thought out and whilst there is a lot of detail, the attention to the smaller less obvious parts of this design are incredible well executed. The teeth and shading around the mouth are one of the best we have ever seen. Congratulations Anna on your first place win.
Second Place - Mary Fairgrieve
Subtlety in a design can be hard to paint to have a large impact, by Mary Fairgrieve has found the power of balance successfully. If you look at how each fine brush stroke contributes to an incredible design. Congratulations Mary on your stunning art.
Third Place - Kathleen Richter
Kathleen has painted such an effective design by turning a friendly pumpkin into where it morphs onto the human face. By using great shading, its shows the folds of the skin to where the pumpkin layer is. Fabulous design Kathleen and many congratulations.
