For the month of March, we invited you to paint your competition entry with the theme of Spring & Easter. Your design could have been inspired by any aspect of Spring & Easter, including flowers and trees bursting into bloom, Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks or chocolate and more! It was great to see how you interpreted your view on Spring & Easter as we saw such a great range of styles and designs.
With nearly 60 designs, we found that this was a difficult competition to judge, we looked at each entry on their own merit, technique, placement, style and keeping with the theme. After our shortlist of designs that captivated us, we had the hard choice of narrowing down our list, finally we got there. We hope that you enjoy looking at the incredible designs we have here and hope that you have been inspired to pick up a brush and paint.
First Place - Dasha Likhodedova
Dasha has painted such an incredible piece of art, the small attention to detail on the babies faces really draws you in to study this design further. The placement of the flowers really frames the face, but if you look really closely, Dasha has painted foliage to replicate eyelashes on the lower lash line. Congratulations Dasha, a truly gorgeous design.
Second Place - Marta Ortega Lopez
A massive congratulations to Marta for her second place win. This design really stood out to for for various reasons. Firstly, the blending of the background is outstanding which then really makes the brushwork pop out. Take a look at the blossom on the trees and how she has extended the delicate flowers to frame the design and the face. Continuing the design onto the neckline by creating the neck as the trunk of the tree is superb and very clever. An outstanding piece of art Marta!
Third Place - Serena Dalla Torre
If we could sum up this third place design by Serena, it would be a cuteness overload! She has painted a gorgeous chick with so much personality but complemented the design by clever placement of spring-like flowers and foliage. Congratulations Serena on your gorgeous spring design.
